NO ADDITIONAL $25 GAP FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From 1 September 2026, if ahm, BUPA or nib does not pay the clinic an amount equivalent to Medicare bulk-billing incentive item 75870, AIMHealth Melbourne Student Medical Centre will waive that amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible and claimable standard GP consultations will be directly billed, and the patient will not be charged the additional $25 clinic gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Medicare Card Holders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible standard GP consultations are fully bulk billed when the patient books with a doctor who can provide Medicare-rebatable services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Medicare patients may currently book with Dr Guo or Dr Ye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some doctors practising at this clinic are not able to provide Medicare-rebatable services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you book with a doctor who cannot provide Medicare services:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • the consultation will be privately billed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Medicare cannot be claimed; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • no Medicare rebate will be available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    If you wish to access Medicare bulk billing, please ensure that you book with a Medicare-eligible doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If the required doctor is not shown as available online, the doctor may be fully booked or unavailable. Please contact reception for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n\n\n\n

    International Students (OSHC) and International Visitors (OVHC)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Patients with eligible Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) may be eligible for direct billing for standard GP consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Eligible standard GP consultations may be directly billed for patients with supported cover from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Allianz<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Medibank<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • CBHS<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • ahm<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • BUPA<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • nib<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      \n\n\n\n

      Direct Billing Conditions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Direct billing applies only when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • your insurance policy is valid on the consultation date;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • your policy covers the consultation provided;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • you provide the required membership number, policy number and\/or insurance card;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • the appointment is an eligible standard GP consultation; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • your insurer accepts the claim.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Direct billing cannot be guaranteed until the insurer accepts the claim after the consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        If your insurer declines the claim or the claim cannot be processed, you will be required to pay the applicable private consultation fee on the day. You may then contact your insurer to determine whether you can claim a benefit directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n\n\n\n

        ahm, BUPA and nib \u2013 Item 75870 Waiver<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Some OSHC insurers do not pay the clinic an amount equivalent to Medicare bulk-billing incentive item 75870.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        From 1 September 2026, AIMHealth Melbourne Student Medical Centre waives this payment shortfall for eligible and claimable standard GP consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        This means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • the eligible standard consultation component is directly billed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • the clinic absorbs the unpaid item 75870-equivalent amount; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • the patient pays no additional $25 clinic gap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          A valid physical or digital BUPA or nib insurance card must be presented at the appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          ahm patients must provide a valid membership or policy number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          If the required card or policy details cannot be provided, or the insurer rejects the claim, the applicable private consultation fee will apply.Payment is required on the day of consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n\n\n\n

          Patients Without Medicare or Eligible Health Cover<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Private consultation fees apply when the patient does not hold:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          • a valid Medicare card;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • eligible OSHC supported by the clinic; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • eligible OVHC supported by the clinic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Private fees also apply when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              \n
            • the policy is not valid on the consultation date;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • the required insurance details are not provided;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • the insurer declines the claim;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • the policy does not cover the consultation provided; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • the consultation is not eligible for Medicare bulk billing or insurance direct billing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
